Renowned Consultant Alan Weiss Brings Consulting Best-Practices Workshop to Bay Area

Two June consultant events sponsored by Women in Consulting and the Society for the Advancement of Consulting

San Mateo, CA – May 15, 2006
– Women in Consulting (WIC), a San Francisco Bay Area organization of seasoned professional consultants, today announced it is co-sponsoring two June events featuring consulting guru Alan Weiss, PhD. Co-sponsored with the Society for the Advancement of Consulting (SAC), these two events are the only scheduled appearances of Alan Weiss, named "one of the most highly respected independent consultants in the country" by the New York Post, to be held in the Bay Area in 2006.

Known as the Million Dollar Consultant, Weiss is a noted author and speaker. In addition to consulting with hundreds of leading corporations around the world, he works with individual consultants worldwide, driving them to use strategies and tactics that increase revenues, add passive income and create new business segments that expand their practices.

“I’m excited to be working with Women in Consulting to bring these events to Bay Area consultants,” said Alan Weiss. “Both seasoned practitioners and those new to the business can benefit from learning best practices. If each of us improves our practice by only 1% a day, in less than three months we will have seen more than 100% improvement.”

"We're very excited to be co-sponsoring these Bay Area events with Alan Weiss,” said Karilee Wirthlin, President of WIC. “Many of us are connected to Alan through his Internet forums and seminars, but we are looking forward to having this in-person opportunity to interact with and learn from him."

Best Practices Workshop
On Thursday and Friday, June 1-2, 2006, at the Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, Weiss will present his Best Practices in Consulting workshop. The workshop, which imparts the techniques and methods best deployed to grow the consulting practices of both new and proven consultants, debuted at the beginning of 2006 and immediately attracted a standing room-only, global audience. The specialized curriculum focuses on helping consultants become outstanding practitioners of a variety of critical basic and advanced consulting techniques. Using a combination of discussion, case studies, role-playing and practice material, workshop attendees will learn:

  • Best practices in the acquisition, management and compensation of sub-contractors
  • Best practices in remote consulting
  • How to formulate strategy and avoid tired acronyms such as ‘SWOT’
  • How to provide feedback, confront and challenge clients

Workshop participants will also receive:

  • Three of Alan Weiss’ books on consulting methodology
  • Two top-selling Alan Weiss CDs
  • Detailed preparation work and case studies
  • One 30-minute post-workshop coaching session with Alan Weiss designed to cement the principals taught in the workshop

WIC members will receive a 20% workshop discount off the regular price of $1195, while joint WIC/SAC members will receive a 25% workshop discount. To register for the workshop, visit http://www.summitconsulting.com/best_practices_seminar.html.

Informal Evening Reception
On Friday, June 2, 2006, consultants will have the opportunity to meet with Alan Weiss at an informal cocktail event at 6:00 p.m. at the Network Meeting Center in Santa Clara,. Speaking on “Eliminating the Mythology of Professional Services Marketing: Why Most of What You Hear is Bad Advice from People Who Haven't Done It Themselves,” Weiss will explore why using value-based fees makes sense for both consultants and their clients. Attendees will have a rare opportunity for personal conversation and dialogue with Weiss.

For WIC and/or SAC members, the fee is $35.00. For guests, the fee is $50.00. Attendance is limited. Please register at http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=105144
